How it works

The original report describes Flame, a walking robot associated with researcher Daan Hobbelen at Delft University of Technology. The research explores how mechanical dynamics and active control can produce a more efficient and human-like gait.

Rather than treating every joint as a rigidly positioned mechanism, walking research examines controlled movement, balance, and the exchange of energy during a step. The archived report is a snapshot of that work, not a claim about a current product.
