How it works

The original note introduces AVR XMEGA features such as DMA, an event system, timers, serial interfaces, and analog peripherals. DMA can move data with less CPU involvement, while an event system can connect peripheral actions without handling each event in software.

The old text implied universal code compatibility across the whole family. Real migration depends on the exact device, memory layout, peripheral set, pinout, and toolchain, so that blanket assurance has been removed.

The archive’s memory sizes and peripheral counts described particular devices. Select an exact part and consult its datasheet rather than using a family overview as a board specification.
