How it works
The Baxandall-style network changes the relative level of low and high frequencies. Q1 works as a common-collector buffer, reducing the source impedance seen by the passive network. Q2 provides gain after the network to recover some of its insertion loss.
The original design describes roughly 10 dB of adjustment around 50 Hz and 10 kHz. The result depends on component tolerances and on the impedances of the source and following amplifier.

The stated load range is 10 kΩ to 250 kΩ. Check response with both controls centered before evaluating the extremes, and use screened connections for long audio leads.
