How it works

The CA3100 provides a fast analog amplifier stage. P1 changes the input level, allowing the video amplitude to be adjusted before the output drives the connected equipment.

A useful video distribution circuit must preserve bandwidth and signal levels under its actual cable and termination loads. The original claim of distribution without loss is not a guaranteed property.

On the bench

Check the schematic’s input and output termination arrangements. Use a known composite-video waveform and inspect amplitude, sync level, and stability with the intended cable lengths.
