How it works

A high-frequency prescaler divides its input before passing a lower-frequency signal to subsequent logic. This is useful when a microcontroller or counter cannot accept the original RF frequency directly.

The SAB6456 provides complementary outputs: one is the logical inverse of the other. Correct output loading and coupling are important when connecting them to the next stage.

On the bench

Check the exact part’s supply, input sensitivity, and output interface in its datasheet. Do not assume a suggested substitute is pin-compatible or electrically interchangeable.
